The European Commission has published Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/2274 on harmonized standards for high-risk artificial intelligence systems in support of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, the EU AI Act.
The Decision notably publishes the reference of EN 18286:2026, “Artificial intelligence – Quality management system for EU AI Act regulatory purposes”, dedicated to quality management systems for the regulatory purposes of the AI Act.
A key point for concerned stakeholders: compliance with harmonized standards whose references are published in the Official Journal of the European Union provides a presumption of conformity with the corresponding requirements covered by those standards.
This publication therefore represents a new milestone in the implementation of the requirements applicable to high-risk AI systems.
