2nd call launched by the European Commission for applications for EURLs on high-risk IVDs

In February 2025, the European Commission, after consultation with the Member States in the Medical Device Coordination Group (MDCG), launched a second call for applications to the Member States to submit further applications on behalf of their candidate laboratories for designation of EURLs.

This call will be conducted in two waves:

1^st wave for applications in the following categories of class D devices:

• Categories: arboviruses, parasitic infections, blood grouping
• Deadlines: April 15, 2025 (laboratories), June 6, 2025 (Member States)

2^nd wave for applications in the following categories of class D devices:

• Categories: hepatitis or retroviruses, herpesviruses, bacterial agents, arboviruses, respiratory viruses, haemorrhagic fevers or other biosafety level 4 viruses, parasitic infections, blood grouping
• Deadlines: January 15, 2026 (laboratories), April 15, 2026 (Member States)
