Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/1324 has just been published in the Official Journal of the European Union (July 8, 2025). It amends Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/1396 to update the organization, operating procedures and remuneration rules for expert panels in the field of medical devices.

Key points:

  • Designation of a new expert panel dedicated to paediatrics and rare diseases;
  • Updated administrative rules: work of sub-groups and procedures for designating rapporteurs;
  • Clarification of the role of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), now fully responsible for the panels’ secretariat;
  • Revision of remuneration scales according to task complexity.

This decision aims to strengthen scientific and clinical expertise in the field of medical devices, particularly for vulnerable populations.
