MDCG summary document on UDI assignment for Spectacle lenses & Ready readers

The Medical Device Coordination Group (MDCG) has just published a summary document on the UDI assignment (Unique Device Identifier) for spectacle lenses and ready readers.

This position paper provides clarification on the UDI assignment obligations for manufacturers of reading glasses and spectacle lenses. It should be read in conjunction with the relevant provisions of Regulation (EU) 2017/745 (notably Chapter III and Annex VI) and related guidance UDI guidance documents.
